About
Kid-Focused Care
We Protect Little Smiles
At Hartland Pediatric Dentistry, we put kids first. Dr. Burke understands that dentistry can be scary for kids of all ages, even preteens and teenagers. That’s why we focus on active participation, provide judgment-free care, and offer options like sedation dentistry to help with discomfort and anxiety. Our mission is to make your child’s dental experience smooth, comfortable, and maybe even a little bit fun!
Care For Every Child
Get To Know Dr. Burke
Dr. Burke’s roots in dentistry run deeply throughout her family. Her grandfather was a dentist and her mother was a hygienist, so she became familiar with dentistry from a very young age. This is part of what inspired her to focus on pediatric dentistry as her specialization. From a young age, she saw first-hand how kids struggle with fear and anxiety that makes it harder to get essential dental care.
Dr. Burke attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree. Then, she went to the University of Detroit Mercy for her dental degree. After graduating, she undertook a one-year AEGD residency at St. John Providence Hospital. Then, Dr. Burke returned to the University of Michigan for her pediatric residency, and also received an M.S. in pediatric dentistry.
In addition to serving patients at Hartland Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Burke also continues to teach part-time at the University of Michigan as a part of their pediatric dentistry program. She is also a delegate for the Michigan Dental Association and the pediatric lead for Mission of Mercy, which provides no-cost dental care to those in need.
Outside of the office, Dr. Burke’s three kids Alli, Corbin, and Kennedy keep her busy with sports, events, and activities throughout the Hartland area. She also loves playing with her dog Gus, or snuggling up with him while planning her family’s next Disney vacation.
What to expect
Patient Experience
After you and your little one check in, they can enjoy our sensory mats, explore the touch wall that changes colors, and pick a few books from our tree-shaped bookshelf. When it’s time for their appointment, one of our hygienists will escort you and your child to one of our comfy treatment rooms.
Your child’s hygienist will take X-rays of their smile. Then, Dr. Burke will come in and perform an oral exam to make sure their mouth is healthy. If everything looks good, your child’s hygienist will clean and polish their teeth. This helps fight back against cavities and keeps their smile healthy.
Then, your kiddo’s all done! You’ll stop by the front desk again on your way out to schedule their next six-month checkup.
However, if Dr. Burke notices any potential oral health issues, she’ll discuss them with you and your child. We will work with you to set up any necessary further appointments for evaluation and treatment.
